At the tournament they both had a date I think so I don't know what those boys did and not did. But whose to say that little bit of training with Goku did anything? They both slacked but I guess it's hard to tell whose stronger before the space adventures in GT. Yea the training with Goku I believe was only.. a day/week/month before the tournament, so Goten could be kept in shape right before entering the budokai. I mean he was afraid of Good Buu and I remember they never promised to not go SSJ, and by EoZ Good Buu should be a joke to the main Zfighters

But bebi made it clear, that trunks was crap. im finding it hard to guess this from what happened. either way, gotenks wasnt of any help meaning that even together the boys meant nothing. if trunks is still stronger than goten? then its just his natural inclination, i mean, he did train in the gravity chamber when goten was in the forest with his brother. All of the bios indicate that goten and trunks straight up stopped training. How that affects them i dont know. Tis is true. Trunks only got stronger because Goku attracts trouble which is why Vegeta wanted the boys to go to space. If they wouldn't train, actual battles would build their power up in his mind at least

This is partially why I wanted them to pull a fast one in GT and for Bulla to sneak on over Trunks. Kakarot and the girls would have been more entertaining IMO, even of Marron was added and made it 3 girls
